What a great game, can't wait to see how this game progresses. I see everyone has already added what I would have suggested, but I would like to recommend a possible trade system (character) where you can trade excess resources for others, perhaps on a diminishing basis.

I have been working at it non stop, made many many balance changes, added another 15 upgrades with majority being a new line similar to lightning and explosion. I am so excited to share what I have been working on in the next update! :)
It's pretty good, I didn't find a way to make lightning do anything meaningful :,< Also on firefox the main menu is only showing a part of the screen regardless of whether the window is maximized or not, in-game's fine if a bit jittery when you move.

I agree with the others that the furnace could need some more upgrades in addition to of course more ores eventually. What i found out though (i don't think it's intended) once you have a good equipment, you can go to a lower level and just spam downwards which will result in very easy level ups. Seems like the XP doesn't scale with the level you are on and is only based on the blocks destroyed? Also you drop through to your elevator once you reach the bottom :)
Thank you for playing! Omg, yes! The XP is all weird and at the moment, it is most efficient to go back to layer 1 to level up quickly. I'll have to fix this for next update. Once you reach the bottom of the map, it automatically teleports you back to the top. I didn't clearly convey this with the visuals, sorry!

The smelter needs more upgrades. I gave up before getting the last set of upgrades because I didn't like having to go through six loads of resources just to upgrade it once. Also, I had everything but that upgraded before even unlocking the final area.
Super helpful feedback! I'll lower the requirement for level 4 ranking up and increase smelter upgrades effectiveness. What are your overall thoughts on the game? Did you enjoy yourself?
I liked it. I think it needed more depth, like more kinds of ores, but I suspect that's already planned. It would be nice to be able to upgrade digging distance and jumping height. More jump height would make it safer to mine without having to worry about not being able to get back. By the end it feels like you can't even dig up because the explosions keep bringing you deeper.
This game looks neat, but it has audio issues where it sometimes skips on frames or something and it sounds really bad. Apparently this is just an issue in the web player sometimes.
Some other feedback: I saw RGB split visual effect in this game. It looks cool, but it's not eye friendly. I suggest add a toggle to disable it.
Balancing: Increasing depth increases resource gain by 3x but block hp by 5x, which means I can only get 0.6x resources overall. I feel it's only useful when I run out of blocks to dig in lower depth, and when that happens, it's more penalizing than rewarding.
I suggest change it to the other way around: Make resource gain mult grow faster than hp mult, like 8x vs 5x. This way it's rewarding for the player to unlock new depths.
Aesthetically nice. Definitely needs safeguards to prevent falling endlessly, either by digging straight down or by accidentally walking off the elevator.

Finished the current game. Had quite some fun.
Another problem report: The furnace has its content all deleted when going to mine.
Blast radius 2 is weird. It does nothing other than unlocking blast radius 3. Then why not merge the two upgrades into a single one?

I started a fresh save and noticed a few more upgrades with their actual effect not matching the tooltip.
Mining speed: says +30%, actually +50%.
Smelting speed: L1 says +100%, actually +50%.
L2 says +500%, actually +200%.
L3 says +20k%, actually +500%.
L4 says 80k%, actually 800%.
L5 says 4m%, actually 10000%.
Max energy looks somewhat weird too. It seems to have more actual effect than shown instead.
Bug: Blast force and magnetic pull somehow end up overlapping in the skill tree.
Edit: another bug: Disabling chromatic aberration doesn't disable it for the elevator.

Oh that sounds annoying. Do you know if there is a fix for that? I am using Godot 4.5

You make a lot of good points! I am already working on implementing them. Please be on the lookout over the next few hours for an update :)
Max energy upgrade looks glitched. Level 2 and 3 cost 0 gold.
Edit: Smelting speed 2 also has problems with the effect. Description says +500, preview says +500, but when I buy it it's only +200.

like the game, untill i just tried digging straight down, and i ended up falling endlessly and the game hung up.
